#CHATTY-CHATS
# Hello and welcome to chatty-chats! We are a relatively
new chat channel located at StarLink-IRC. Romeo would like to extend an
invitation to everyone to stop by and visit us. We have been steadily working
on our new website, which is scheduled to open in early October. A spinoff
of a channel created by our own LUVLY_1 from another network, chatty-chats
was welcomed to Star with open arms. The reception was so wonderful that
we have decided that we should have been at Star right from the start.
Chatty has a fresh new approach to chat, in that our events are regularly
scheduled. Our topics are taken from our everyday lives. Our ops are friendly,
every day people. Just like the neighbor next door. A new artist has recently
started work at the channel, so expect to see some new text plays very
soon. Our reunion #1 was a huge success. We are planning a second reunion
night coming up. Most events will be announced at our website, so visit
often, and meet the new kids on the block! Thank you from Romeo and everyone

Gyrene of #Norwich is celebrating the birth of his second grandson in
Maryland. The father is Gyrene's son RacerX. Gy can't wait for the new
one to get to be Cub Scout age...as he has already practiced on first grandson
Michael.
OldCrow of #Crows_Nest announces the birth of his new......well! - and
looks forward to having water again.
Willco of #Norwich is following Norwich tradition and practicing to
ban himself, the night after Lois banned busterc. Treecat kindly offered
to help Lois ban buster if Lois had any trouble doing it! (This time, Lois's
excuse is long fingernails.)
HURRICANE NEWS FROM USERS:
Zingo of #Norwich, who lives in Turkey, NC right on the coast,reports
this during hurricane Floyd.
We made it through last nite, very little sleep here.
4 trees down, one of them on house. But we quickly got the chainsaw running
and little damage to house. Got window leaks and a little water on first
floor from tree. Tremendous flooding here. This afternoon I-40 to wilmington
was closed at mile marker 364 about 2:00. Traffic was at least backed up
2 miles.The people of Turkey responed very quickly by emptying freezers
and gathering food for stranded motorists to eat. All of these people had
left Wilmington before the storm and were trying to return home, not knowing
ALL roads were flooding.Creeks here are still raising. Our church was opened
as a shelter tonite. All being done off generators. There is no power here,
and it takes 10& miles for me to go to turkey, when it is only about
3 miles when the bridge is open. ALL BRIDGES ARE OUT. We are safe and happy,
for this was not as bad as Fran. Dont know when our power will be on, doesnt
really matter to me, as I have seen people today that still dont know if
they even have a home. But the most amazing part to me is several of them
offered us food to feed others that they had in their cars. They need the
prayers now. Many of them have run out of money and gas. No gas stations
are open here yet because there is no power. We are hoping the main roads
will have power tomorrow, linemen are working tonite. I have seen power
company trucks in convoys trying to get to wilmington. We cannot get to
Clinton from here and a lot of phone lines are not working at all. Mobile
phones work if you are lucky, as the lines seem to be jammed all the time.My
daughter is still here with us, leaving her car in water yesterday morning
at Carolina Beach. She does not know if she still has a trailer or a car.
So I will shut down this computer again, so the generator can work on my
freezer. Tomorrow we plan to cook these stranded people some breakfast,
but we dont know if they will be able to leave tomorrow or not. I cannot
tell you how many are in Turkey tonite, but the church's sunday schools
are all full and the pew cushions make a nice cot. Many said they tried
to call the Red Cross, but could not get thru. Thanks for the prayers,
I hope Wayne and others are okay. They might be just sitting in the dark,
but at least tonite I hope we can all get some sleep.

during the hurricane. Can you imagine Itsy without computer contact with
the network?

Fletcher on #OldRadio reports heavy rains in Bangor,
Maine. He says they need the wet, but not the winds.

Sylvie compained that if she went outside five minutes,
she had to start swimming. She reported in #OldRadio that they were getting
the tail of Floyd in Montreal.

Mrs. G of #chataway said her house was shaking from
the wind.

EricW (#OldRadio) was preparing to be hit in Western
NC. The Raleigh-Durham area was without power after Wednesday night.

FOGWEB FOLLIES

non-information brought to you by your friendly neighborhood arachnid
Your intrepid arachnid is BACK .. although there
is a new red racing stripe right down the front that has been added for
decoration a couple months back. It simply goes to prove that 40 years
of no exercise and crummy (but tasty!!) diet has a price. Fortunately,
they invented HMOs before I got the bill ...
So, lets see whats been happening while OTHER people
have been making up .. ah .. investigating the FUN news on the net.
The ops in #norwich have been banning themselves
again on a regular basis. Apparently aiming at other folks (they say)...
sounds more to me like the gang that couldn't shoot straight. On a slow
night, drop in and see if you can take over the channel by just waiting
until they've banned everybody and scared the bot off. (do NOT tell them
I sent you! cause I didn't. You read it here first.)
After doing extensive medical research, the famous
blue one has discovered that its VERY traumatic if you are not nice to
small blue spiders recovering from major surgery until they are FULLY recovered.
It is rumored that extra snax can make the recovery process much easier,
no matter HOW many years it takes.
And last but not least, it seems hurricane Floyd
(who NAMES these things anyway? Floyd??? Gimme a BREAK! ) was a major non-event.
The only good report was one local to DC where there was one poor sod outside
getting rained all over .. all afternoon. The INSIDE weather guys ordered
a pizza, and ate it ON the AIR, and described how warm and dry it was to
the guy out in the soggy. And they wonder why there is too much violence
on television ..
That seems to be it for now .. more follies for years
to come so remember, your friends will rat you out in a blink if theres
a payoff in it for em!

My Little 'Puter Prayer (from Carol in #Just4fun)
Every night I lie in bed, This little prayer goes through my head,
May God bless my mom and dad and bless my children, too... And God, there's
just one more thing, I wish that You would do, If you don't mind me asking...
Would You bless my 'puter too?
Now I know, that it's not normal, to bless a small machine, but
listen just a second and I'll try to explain...
You see, this little metal box, Holds more than odds and ends. Inside
those small components, Rest a Hundred loving friends.
Some, its true, I've never seen And most I've never met, We've never
even shaken hands or, Truly hugged, and yet...
I know for sure they love me, By the kindness that they give And
this little scrap of metal Is how I get to where they live.
By faith is how I know them, Much the same as I know You... By sharing
my life it brings them close, So if its ok with You... Please take an extra
minute, from your duties up above... To bless this little hunk of steel

disco dance
- Hotter water comes from the cold water tap than the
hot one
- You can pronounce the words: "Saguaro",
"Tempe", "San Xavier", "Canyode Chelly",
"Mogollon Rim" and "Cholla"
- It's noon in July, kids are on summer vacation and
yet all the streets are totally empty of both people and cars
- You actually burn your hand opening the car door
- Sunscreen is sold year round, kept right at the checkout
counter
- Sunscreen w/a formula less than 50 spf is a joke
- You put on fresh sunscreen just to go check the mailbox
- Some fool can market mini-misters for joggers and
some other fools will actually buy them
- Worse -- some fools actually try to jog
- You know that hot air balloons can't rise, because
the air temperature is hotter than the air inside the balloon
- No one would dream of putting vinyl upholstery in
a car
- You can understand the reason for a town named "Why"

Female Customer: Yes that one!
Tech: Miss, that's the Netscape history list. Netscape
keeps the past ten links you typed in that box. The only way to put an
address in that box is for someone to physically sit at your computer and
type in a web address.
Female Customer: Well I certainly didn't type in those
X rated web addresses!
Tech: Well somebody did. Who else has access to your
computer, and uses the Internet?
Female Customer: Just me and my husband!
(Several seconds of silence pass....Hey! I wasn't
going to say it!)
