AMAZING AND LESSER THINGS!
by Amazing

Welcome to the newest server that's in test phase -Roswell.NM.US.StarLink-IRC.Org and it's admin, Brad!

There are some color shows coming up in the near future. They will be heldin #popup-palace and will be based on themes consisting of Johnny Mathis,Patsy Cline, Love Poems and Beachboys. Watch this space for dates and times!
Don't forget to order your StarLink-IRC t-shirts, sweatshirts and caps!! How to order can be found at http://www.starlink-irc.org/slogos/phaedra.html
StarLink-IRC.Org receives no money for these items... the products shown are being sold by a store owned by ellegon ( of #emerg_serv_lobby )
A BEING SIGHTED! Speaking of servers, you may know that the Grantspass OR server is administered by a Being! Just in, this late-breaking information from Blu:

While I was resting along a creek deep in the woods of southern Oregon, I had was lucky to catch a glimpse of the infamous "BEING" wandering around the woods!! To view the sighting click this link.

#MoonShadow
#MOONSHADOW Like to play Trivia? Starmoon, channel manager for #Moonshadow, announces their human trivia game on Thursdays at 10 PM. game of Trivia. She explains: The rules are... if ya win, you get to host the following week... but don't let that deter you from winning. If you win and can't host, one of the channel regulars will alwaysdo the honors. It is a lot of fun and we have some great laughs. So why not come and play?. The main rule of the game is that Speeling Dusn't Cownt *grin... and you have to laugh at least 3 times or you can't leave the room. We also ask that you not be mean or nasty to anyone - or you will risk being kicked out.
The game has 20 questions... sometimes 21 if a tie breaker is needed. The host asks the questions and everyone else fires off the answers. The winner is the first correct answer that the host sees. (This rule is due to lag that sometimes happens on any IRC server. BUT very rarely in Starlink-irc.
#Sunshine_Again
Once a month DebA will be hosting a game on the second Friday of each month at 9 PM EST, beginning June 9.. The game is called MADGABS. What is MADGABS? If you are there June 9, you'll find out.
If there are any others out there who have a game that can be played in a Starlink-irc channel and you'd be willing to host it once a month, please contact DebA via I_wonder_why@hotmail.com. She would also love to hear from anyone who has a game idea even if they don't want to host it. We already have SIM games, trivia and scramble so she would like to offer other games besides those. She would like to gather enough hosts to have a game running each friday down the road. She also welcome suggestions from our webtv and java users because she knows they can't see colors or hear the sounds played. If she can make a small change in how the game looks to make it more enjoyable and playable for ya'll, please let DebA know.
#Norwich
Norwichians have been watching while Brad and Busterc worked together, 2500 miles apart, to get the Roswell, NM server in operation. Brad lives in Roswell, and Busterc in upper NY State. Roswell is the city that is famous for the report of aliens having crashed there on July 3, 1947. Brad is also sometimes known as Z_Alien, and he and busterc are both ops on #Norwich and they share co-admin duties for the new server
#Cancer-Chat
Bel-foire has opened a channel for her Mom who has cancer. She would like to chat with others with the same problems and who could possibly share information on cancer.
#30-40Plus
Channel Owner Lacey wants to "brag" about their latest award that they just received for the channel's webpage. She received the following notification in her email and you’ll find it on their web page
#Ocean^s_Wav^s:
A place for General Chat and a Place to Get sound files . `Ocean is a ColorTeam member and they also play popups and color, and help with mIRC if they can. All are welcome! A web page isn't done yet but is coming soon
#Babyboomers
Carol and Dan tell us they live at Port Hardy on Vancouver Island - at the opposite tip of the island from Victoria. They have put a new highway from Victoria to Port Hardy and it only takes 7 to 8 hours to cross the island. They would like them to put a bridge across our island to the mainland like they did down east. We have whales and seals that come through their bay so they get quite a show. This Spring has been awesome with lots of Flowers blooming already.
#OurCorner
There are lot of places to chat on the web. But sometimes when the world is especially hard you need a safe place. A place to go and talk without fear of being picked up. A place where you need not fear being laughed at or picked on. That place hopefully will be #OurCorner. There is lot of pain in life and people need a place tofind a friend. When you feel like the world is closing around you and your back is in a corner, let it be Our Corner. Maybe for a few minutes we can be your strength, and maybe some laughter can come. It is open to the public because you never know where the help will come from. If the subject becomes to serious or to painful the option to go private with one of the ops is always available. My sister and I have built a web page it is called Tee`Sha's World and it is dedicated to those who have lived in and survived the pain. This room is also dedicated to those people. Hopefully we will assist in helping some others to survive.
Life is lonely without laughter and all is Lost without Love.
Visit our website if you get the chance.
Cherish those you know and Love those you cherish

#PRYS
My huband Wolf1 and I (Rythym) opened a place for a special group of people that we both are involved with -- the P.R.Y.S. Foundation better known as PRYS. PRYS was created to address the needs of people who are suffering with PPS (Post Polio Syndrome). These people suffered through their battle with Polio and now are seeing its devastation again. The extreme fatigue, muscle ache, joint pain, further weakening of their body has caused many to stop working and doing all those everyday activities that most take for granted. The P.R.Y.S. Foundation Inc. is dedicated to easing the burdens of Polio/PPS survivors and their families. Its mission is to educate the public and the medical profession to this disabling disease and its after-effects. Its goalsare to provide education to the medical community as well as give support for those suffering from PPS.
We created the Foundation on the Internet. As an internet-based foundation, most of our communication is done through chartrooms, ICQ and email. We cancontact and talk with P.R.Y.S. members within minutes, giving guidance and personal attention to any of our 400+ 'family' members from around the world. We completely operate this Foundation from the Internet and since October of 1997. More than 250,000 visitors have come to the various pages of our web site. We help many others through our E-Mails, Updates, Newsletters and Informational Data.
Having a Chatroom here has allowed our members [who mostly are inexperienced computer users that use various methods of chatting (web-TV, mIRC, Pirch] that was not always readily available on Talkcity or any other server.
Thanks for everything, Maze and Itsy, you've been great
Visit the P.R.Y.S. Web Site and look around. Then drop into #PRYS and say hi. Sandra Hall-Hansen

HEARTFELT THOUGHTS to Wildchild, in #KyChatHouse, who has had worries about one of her twin daughters. She had a bacterial infection which drove her temperature through the roof and required big dosings of antibiotics. Fever has finally subsided and we hope she is on her road to recovery.

FOGWEB FOLLIES
A short column of made-up facts and non-information brought to you by your friendly neighborhood arachnid

Your ever round one has been BUSY this month finding a new house for the Rochester* server... and managed to find one only 15 miles up the road from Oakland University! (something of a miracle that!)

On the tech side, Dane and Ameret have been working on doing an IRC (a fancified scripting web page) for our webbies who come to visit. Its .. ah.. 'interesting' to see Ameret find the undocumented features (i.e. bugs) in the buttons. Thrill a minute some nites.

One of our tourists (Jody) was attacked by a sticky squirrel the other night .. its not clear if the attack was provoked .. or exactly how the critter got sticky. Some things you just dont want to know no matter how weird.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend and see you next month !!

Your friendly neighborhood arachnid.

Ever wonder how the Internet REALLY works? Where it came from? Check out these links - you may find the experts know less than they think they do!

  • John S. Quarterman's Site Interactive Week listed John Quarterman as one of the 25 Unsung Heroes of the Internet, saying ``As president of [MIDS], Quarterman, 43, is to Net demographics what The Gallup Organization is to opinion polls.'
  • How the Internet Works The key to how the Internet works lies in understanding what it is: The Internet is a network of networks. It is not an easily defined single object.

Smart husbands know NOT to ask this question...
    .
How many mothers with PMS does it take to screw in a light bulb?
    Answer:
    One. ONE!!
And do you know WHY it only takes ONE?
Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb.
They don't even know the bulb is BURNED OUT. T
hey would sit in this house in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it OUT. And once they figured it out they wouldn't be able to find the lightbulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD for the past SEVENTEEN YEARS.
But if they did, by some miracle, find the lightbulbs, TWO DAYS LATER the chair that they dragged from two rooms over to stand on to change the STUPID lightbulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!!!!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE CRUMPLED WRAPPER THE DARN LIGHT BULBS CAME IN. WHY??? BECAUSE NO ONE IN THIS HOUSE EVER CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE!!!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED UNDER PILES OF GARBAGE 12 FEET DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS!
    That's how many.
    Any OTHER questions???
