May 21- Jun 21 Gemini the Twins

    • Gem: Aquamarine or transparent gems in white, green, blue, yellow or pink
    • Color: Yellow

You were born with the art of persuasion and are lively, energetic and humanistic. You are intellectual and communicative. You are quick-minded, an ideal conversationalist. As your interest falls in many areas, you probably know a little about almost evrything, rather than know a lot about a few things. However, the things you do know a lot about, you tend to get carried away on. You tend to force your opinion on others and try to make them see things from your point of view. You are ready for a trip at a moment’s notice. You are a shrewd business person and can excel in business mainly because of your communicative abilities.

Some people born under the sign of Gemini: George Bush, Jacques Cousteau, Clint Eastwood, Douglas Fairbanks, Errol Flynn, Judy Garland, Benny Goodman, Bob Hope, Dean Martin, Marilyn Monroe, Joe Namath, Donald Trump, Walt Whitman and Frank Lloyd Wright.

#HOLO
#Holophrastic.com began its life as the unloved personal page of a bored UNIX admin, transformed into a tiny community of self-promoting artists and writers, and is now mainly a home for the infamous Holo Message Boards, where intelligent and sardonic people from around the world gather to poke, prod, and lovingly flame each other. Those who wander into #holo will likely find a few folks from Switzerland arguing with some guy from Connecticut over some political/philosophical issue, with sexual commentary thrown in by some chicks from Virginia. Strangers are welcome, as long as they're entertaining to the rest of us. ;-) Other features of Holophrastic.com: original music, a huge repository of the web's best comics, and the monthly column JavaScopes.
Additional comments from one of the #holo locals, Jabber: #holo is just real-time holophrastic, with the occasional strange attractor of geekytude. We're a support group for the geekologically inclued (sic).
... this place would consider simultaneous conversations about kernel compilation, sado-masochism, linguistics, gun control, abortion and /nick-tag to be completely typical.
And just in case you are wondering what a holophrastic is: Function: adjective Etymology: International Scientific Vocabulary hol- + -phrastic (from Greek phrazein to point out, declare) Date: 1860 Definition: expressing a complex of ideas in a single word or in a fixed phrase
##50&FANTASTIC
#50&Fantastic is having a great time as a part of the team at Starlink-Irc. Moving a channel is a difficult thing to do -- but we have accomplished it. Many new people have become a part of our "family" and have added so much to it. One thing that makes us a bit "unique" is we try to be open 24/7. Having channel operators in all time zones in the United States, plus Australia and Austria gives us an advantage we are grateful for. While we are, and will remain to be, a channel for the over 50s age group, many who are our regulars are younger than that and many are older. What matters is the way we interract with one another -- and that's always a fun and wholesome thing to see. I would like to invite everyone to stop by and visit with us for a while. Don't be bashful, just make yourself at home and jump into a conversation. We may be talking on anything from the weather, to someone's family, revisited the past and how things used to be, or you may see a couple of the operators doing their "computer dance" when a certain song is played. (notice names of the operators are not mentioned :)) The important thing is we have fun, and truly care about one another. I hope you will take time to drop by and see for yourself. Visit our web page at http://www.crosswinds.net/~jbc50fan/ -- let us know what you think.
May the summer find each of you doing well -- and for our downunder friends we are hoping you enjoy the winter. As someone wrote -- seasons come and seasons go -- but friends are always here.
^jaye, 50&Fantastic Channel Manager
#CHRISTIANCHAT
I am LftHimUp aka grandpa owner of #christianchat. Our room is designed for people to come in and be able to Praise Jesus and Lift up His Name. I know there are those who desire to debate but there are other rooms for that. I am thankful for all the friends I have met and am looking forward to meeting many more. I pray for this network and all those that I meet. My wife (granma) and I are raising an autistic granddaughter so our first draw to Starlink-IRC was to the #autism room and we met so many friends there and still spend time enjoying one another and helping others learn about this disorder. so I am looking forward to meeting many of the people, please drop in and enjoy the worship and prase. We will also take time to pray for those who desire it. If there is a serious problem, we will be glad to go into pvt with anyone and help them the best we can. I am a Christian counselor and a Pastor as well . God Bless you all and see you soon. LftHimUp

#QUEENS^PALACE
DivaQueen, owner of #Queens^Palace, writes: Welcome to #Queen^sPalace, where everyone is treated like royalty! Well, first of all it’s the palace so proper attire is mandatory and to enter they need to bear gifts. A good sense of humor is a must, too. The finest foods…art and MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC! The Queen supplies the kind a queen would want…of course! And if you must drool over the fine wine, food and women…bring your bib and bucket…clean up is your own responsibility. I made the door low so it would look like you’re bowing when you enter.

WHO'S DOING WHAT?

Nothing thrilling this month.

(Tell us what's happening on your channel - send info to newsletter@starlink-irc.org)

FOGWEB FOLLIES
A short column of made-up facts and non-information brought to you by your friendly neighborhood arachnidspider

SL-IRC has recently announced its new 'full time full moon' service. All the nutcakes and whiffletwinks out there will now be on the net ALL the time instead of full or new moon. This saves you having to worry what time of the month it is because some times she .. oh wait, lost the thread here. The nutcases will be here forever now. See how simple it is?

On the sanity front, a certain unnamed instantpotroastperson managed to cut her thumb the other night. Because she is to brave, it took the whole channel to wrestle her to the emergency room. Stitches are MUCH better than a wad of gauze that would choke a carrier whale (c.IMI)

Now, this happened in #Itsy (where ELSE could this happen) some nite when your favorite arachnid was NOT present in the room.. So none of this is my fault. I have no idea whose fault it is, but boy do they have a lot to answer for! See for yourelf... in Amazing's Column above!

This is not the only Web site dedicated to optical illusions, but it is probably the best, both in the number of illusions, and the explanations. RAISING CHILDREN: Contributed by Zingo

  • You spend the first 2 years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next 16 telling them to sit down and shut up.
  • Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your children.
  • Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like clearing the driveway before it has stopped snowing.
  • "There is only one pretty child in the world and every mother has it." (Chinese Proverb)
  • Mothers of teens know why animals eat their young.
  • I asked Mom if I was a gifted child...she said they certainly wouldn't have paid for me.
  • Children are natural mimics, who act like their parents despite every Effort to teach them good manners.
  • Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.
  • The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own.
  • We child proofed our home 3 years ago and they're still getting in!
  • Be nice to your kids. They'll choose your nursing home.

DIVORCE WHISPERER: Contributed by Itsy’s Dad

A judge was interviewing a woman regarding her pending divorce, and asked, "What are the grounds for your divorce?"

She replied, "About four acres and a nice little home in the middle of the property with a stream running by."

"No," he said, "I mean what is the foundation of this case?" "It is made of concrete, brick and mortar," she responded.

"I mean," he continued, "What are your relations like?" "I have an aunt and uncle living here in town, and so do my husband's parents."

He said, "Do you have a real grudge?" "No," she replied, "We have a two-car carport and have never really needed one."

"Please," he tried again, "is there any infidelity in your marriage?" "Yes, both my son and daughter have stereo sets. We don't necessarily like the music, but the answer to your questions is yes."

"Ma'am, does your husband ever beat you up?" "Yes," she responded, "about twice a week he gets up earlier than I do."

Finally, in frustration, the judge asked, "Lady, why do you want a divorce?" "Oh, I don't want a divorce," she replied. "I've never wanted a divorce. My husband does. He said he can't communicate with me.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Anonymous Contributor

  • Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he'll be a mile away - and barefoot.
  • A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.
  • My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.
  • Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of checks.
  • Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you a mechanic.
  • Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
