CHANNEL CHATTER    What's happening in the channels ...

#LupusChat
Opens It's Doors  by Zadi
Hi there. My "name" is Zadi and I'm the new owner of #Lupuschat here on Starlink-IRC. Thanks to the encouragement of Hiddendoor and Itsy, I've finally opened this room as a sort of cyber support group for those seeking information and resources relating to Lupus, an autoimmune disease. I personally have Lupus, as well as Fibromyalgia and some other related illnesses, and found the Starlink-IRC network as a result of searching for support myself.

Hiddendoor and her friends in the #Fibrochat channel were so friendly and helpful that I stayed and expanded my visits to include the #40+trivia and #channels rooms. I've frequented other IRC networks in the past, but I've never found one that was such a community, nor have I seen other networks with such a caring and supportive staff. I quickly made myself at home in the #Fibrochat channel and now I'm here to stay.

Fibromyalgia, Lupus, and other chronic illnesses affect the lives of their victims in so many ways, and often in ways that others can never see. That is why it is so very important that the chronically ill build up a reliable support system around them, and chatting with others in the same situation can be a great contribution to that system. These are people who actually do have some idea of what we deal with day in and day out, and when they say "I can relate," they really can.

Those who live with pain and fatigue wake up to challenges from the minute they open their eyes in the morning, if they ever got to sleep the night before. They often are misunderstood by those closest to them and have to fight battles with their doctors, their insurances, the government, their employers... not to mention their own bodies. When we slip into one of these channels, either #Fibrochat or #Lupuschat, and there are people waiting to hear how your doctor's appointment went, how your medicine worked for you last night, whether you were able to attend that special social event, and they really care and understand your limitations and your hopes... the feeling is unexplainable. All the sarcasm, the criticism, the climbing uphill only to fall back down, just fades away and we are accepted.

If you know someone with Lupus or another auto-immune disease, or who is being investigated for these diseases, I highly recommend you suggest they visit our new room, #Lupuschat. In addition to sharing our experiences with each other, we have a website with information and resources available to anyone who visits. And if you know someone with any other chronic illness, such as Fibromyalgia, I definitely recommend Hiddendoor's #Fibrochat channel. Those folks are great, and they have a wealth of information available, as well.

Thank you, Starlink-IRC
#HandsAroundTheWorld
From LindyM
Our new channel #handsaroundtheworld is officially open.  LindyM, ThePiranha and Will are the OPS. They are the hosts and hostess with the mostest!  Please come join us! Though we are a Christian chat channel, ALL are welcome, Christians and non-Christians, for some clean, family oriented chat, praises, prayers and just good old fashion fun... BTW, there are NO corners in our channel so no hiding, sulking or pouting!

#FIBROCHAT
Our hearts and prayers are with Sharknva and Spiritof3 as they mourn the loss of Spirit's sister who died January 10th.

What well known owner of #lupuschat and op in #fibrochat seems to be having trouble making up her mind about Itsy these days?  Of course, it looks as if Itsy isn't any more stable in his reactions.  These doctored logs tell the whole story.  For the real deal meet us in either #lupuschat or #fibrochat. We're actually support channels for fibromyalgia and lupus but laughter IS the best medicine.

foo! FOGWEB FOLLIES
A short column of made-up facts and non-information
...brought to you by your friendly neighborhood arachnid

REPTILE ATTACK EPISODE
Here it is twenty ought four and theres just NOTHING worth gossiping about....  Oh wait .. there was one thing. LindyM ( #HandsAroundTheWorld ) burned some buns in a microwave. Your intrepid blue one didn't think it was possible (and he oughta know) .. so maybe she will tell us all.

On the mystery front, one of our newest channel owners Zadi ( #lupuschat) did something really embarrassing last month but I forgot what it was.  ON the other hand, somebody will rat out the good dirt sooner or later to avoid starring in the follies.. so watch this space.

I think thats about it .. oh wait.. yes ... one little thing...

NOL'S VERSION
The other nite NOLady was in her bedroom* and was (as described) ATTACKED viciously by a GIANT reptile in the privacy and safety of her OWN home.  Neither her ferocious puddy tat or her spouse were able to save her !!   Of course theres a reason for that .. NOL accidentally grabbed a gecko lizard (described by the aforementioned) about the size of a rubber band and came apart at the seams.  (NOL, not the lizard.. although wherabouts of the vicious critter is not known. It may be hiding under a crouton somewhere).

ACTUAL CRITTER
real geckoCat didn't know there was an issue with invisible lizards and hubby was too busy taking notes for mailing to your blue reporter. (that part is true.. the first remarks were about the follies .. no mention made of medical care, hunting of varmints, etc.)  Fortunately the laughter subsided and no one was damaged too much by falling down humor.  Of course we can all take this as a lesson (don't panic when attacked by critters smaller than your thumb) and get it behind us and move on.  Right. You bet.  Sure.  This is gonna be material for YEARS ....

Til next time... have a happy 04.

THINGS TO PONDER

Can you cry under water?
How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?
If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches?
Since bread is square, then why is sandwich meat round?
Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?
Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?
Why does a round pizza come in a square box?
What did cured ham actually have?
How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?
Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?
If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?
If you drink Pepsi at work in the Coke factory, will they fire you?
Why are you IN a movie, but you are ON TV?
Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?
How come we choose from just two people for President and fifty for Miss America?
Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see you naked anyway.
If a 911 operator has a heart attack, whom does he/she call?
I signed up for an exercise class and was told to wear loose- fitting clothing. If I HAD any  loose-fitting clothing, I wouldn't have signed up in the first place!
Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press "Ctrl Alt Delete' and start all over?
Just remember... if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.

Thanks once again to those who sent in articles for the newsletter.  Please encourage your channel owners and other guests to send in their important dates for the month, channel chatter, and general noteworthy news!  It really gives our network a stronger sense of continuity when we can share these events with those outside the channels we normally visit.  One of the things I have always cherished about our network is the way channels support and visit and encourage other channels rather than stooping to the pettiness of competition and exclusion and such.  That's just another testament to the character of our community!  If you are as busy as I am, you don't always have the time to get out and visit other channels.  Our Sunday evening #Townhall meetings are an excellent opportunity to come and meet other folks that we would not normally chat with or get to know.  Come join us for these meetings which are often informative and always fun.  We usually have refreshments, too!  But you all know how that  goes with Itsy around.... not even the platters are left by the time everyone gets there!.
