THIS MONTH'S CELEBRATIONS - Let's party! Coming up: ********************************************************************** HALLOWEEN PARTY: StarLink-IRC thanks TooShy and MikeChat for the wonderful Halloween show they put on in #mirc-colors, and also for accepting the encore performance to be held in #mirc_colors on October 31st at 9 PM PST. A Halloween party will be held in #Townhall at the same time, so everyone can be there ooooooohing and ahhhhhhing over the show. ********************************************************************** CHANNEL CHATTER: #1 Our channel, #1, is fairly new, but most of our member are "old-timers" on chat channels - and a few are "old-timers" in life, as well. GGbear (bustor@cyberstate.infi.net) who lives in South Carolina, and I, Kookum (kookum@leading.net) who live in Florida, are both over 70 years of age. Kittypoo (GGBear's daughter - bustoc@richmond.infi.net) and Leighaa (leigha@mnsc.com), both live in Virginia. Lucy (shamag@baynet.net) lives in Canada but will be moving shortly to Ohio. Both Miklyn (j50size@mercury.net) and Redhead (wpbred@aol.com) live in Florida. Eve (evebell@aqcc-net.com) lives in Ohio, and Widget, who is Kookum's young sister (widget@qis.net) is in Maryland. We came to Starlink-IRC becaue we heard so much about it from good friends busterc and lois - how friendly everyone was, great help readily available, and no kinky or sex channels. We have not been disappointed - everything we have heard is quite factual. Our channel is open at 9 AM and 7 PM (Eastern time) and we welcome everyone. We are eager to make new friends. Kookum (Amazing says: For anyone who wants a "Smile For The Day", make sure you check out the topic each day on #1.) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ #mirc_colors Everyone at #mirc_colors would like to thank all that attended our Halloween Show on October 10th. There will be a repeat show on Halloween night at 9 PM PST/ MIDNIGHT EST. A special Thank You to Tooshy and MikeChat for such a wonderful evening of colors. #mirc_colors also offers 1-line popups and color scripts, and we look at ourselves as one big happy family. (We have heard this shows). On our homepage we carry lessons, tutorials, and download section where you can find popups and color scripts. If you want to start coloring, and you're running Windows95-98-NT, you can download Popedit - it is a freeware color editor and is done by us. Our homepage: http://members.xoom.com/danexx/mc You are always welcome in our home, #mirc_colors. Dane^sGal, Dane34, Whobear and TedEBear _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ #ET I'm proud to be a part of a recent group quilt project to raise funds for breast cancer support. The story, quilt pics, and how to buy chances for the drawing are at: http://www.threadandthimble.com/pmquilt.htm Members of an on-line quilting group which chats in #ET made the quilt for one of our members when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and we had to be doing something while she was having surgery. We hope our raffle will raise money for the fight against this all-too-prevelent disease. And don't forget to schedule your mammogram! Mary Beth Goodman _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ #OldRadio Devotees of radio programs of the "golden days of radio" (mainly through the 1950's) find this channel the place to meet on Thursday nights 5 PM Pacific/8 PM Eastern. Between meetings, some of the regulars might be found there at other times. Their big coup was Thursday, Oct 15th when their guest was Harry Bartell, one of Hollywood's busiest actors in radio, then later in TV and movies. Due to publicity for the event, 56 people showed up to hear Harry give insight into the radio business and answer questions from the audience. Lois was producer and announcer of the show; Busterc from #Norwich channel was director; Willco of #Norwich was assistant director; Charlie, Don and Old-Timer (#OldRadio ops) were gophers. Itsy provided the wall-stretcher. Thanks to all of them for making this night a success! You may read the transcript of this show at: http://www.old-time.com/irc.html#guests http://www.lofcom.com/nostalgia/ircchat.phtml Lois What's your channel all about? Send your information for Channel Chatter to newsletter@starlink-irc.org and give everyone the lowdown on what's happening there. Publicize your home page site! ************************************************************************ WHO'S DOING WHAT: Scorp left BC Canada for Yuma, AZ on Sunday, Oct 18th, and will probably be back online from there by Sunday, Oct 24th. She will spend 5 months there in the wonderful sunny and hot weather. She says, "Thanks to Starlink-IRC I can still chat with my friends back home in Canada and listen to their tales of woe about the cold and rainy weather they are having." Frequent Flyer Ant18 of New Zealand was off again the
middle of October - to Portugal for 5 days. She has never been there before
and is looking forward to visiting and checking out the shopping malls.
She has done most of her Christmas shopping already, from various lands.
For people asking about the "18" at the end of her name, her
name is Antoinette - think Ant-one-eight. She works for Air New Zealand,
handling labor disputes, and spends time on #Norwich channel. Tell us about the visitors to your channel! Let us know what's happening? Just remember to respect their privacy...ie., dont send for publication their age on their birthday, unless you ask them first. ************************************************************************** SUBSCRIPTIONS Don't miss out on all the news from Starlink-IRC! Click on More Credits -- see the list of people who worked on this project. Now..... 3. Press Ctrl as credits scroll by 4. Somewhat humorous results occur. Freecell Instant Win 1. Start a new game 2. Hold down CTRL+SHIFT+F10 3. Follow the instructions 4. Double click on a card to do it. 5. (You can make it so when a person makes their first move, they lose the game ;) ) If you wish to read more about Easter Eggs and find more hidden surprises, go to Messages from the 40's tech page: http://www.cochems.com/news/kk.html ************************************************************************** FRIENDS WITHOUT FACES We sit and we type and we stare at our screens
